Tipperary’s Clonmel RFC visit Alcast Park on Saturday 10 October for an All-Ireland League Division 2 match against Enniscorthy, kick off 14:30. This is the second of back to back home fixtures for Enniscorthy at Alcast Park in early October, following the visit of Thomond the previous week, giving the club two chances in quick succession to settle into life at this level after promotion from a division topping 2024/25 season. Enniscorthy RFC was founded in 1912 and has a strong record in Irish club rugby, including two All-Ireland Junior Cup wins, in 2014 and 2016, four Leinster Provincial Towns Cup titles between 2012 and 2019, and a Guinness Rugby Writers club of the year award in 2022, all achieved before this step up into senior All-Ireland League rugby.
Alcast Park sits on the Ross Road in Enniscorthy, and the ground has taken on a different level of significance for the town since promotion, hosting a tier of rugby that previously meant a long away trip to watch. A season ticket covering all nine AIL home games at the ground is available through the club, working out at roughly €7.80 per game against a normal single match price in the region of €10, making it a reasonable option for anyone planning to attend regularly through the season. Matches at this level are genuinely competitive, physical contests between clubs with strong underage and schools pathways feeding into their senior squads, and Clonmel themselves are an established Munster club used to AIL rugby, so this should be a good test of how Enniscorthy’s squad is adapting to the higher standard.
