At Castle Coole · Castle Coole, Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh
Friends of the Cancer Centre returns to Castle Coole in Enniskillen on Saturday, 19 September 2026 for its annual sponsored walk around the National Trust demesne, raising money for cancer services across the north west. The charity funds equipment, research and support services connected to the Cancer Centre at Belfast City Hospital, and the Castle Coole walk is one of its regular Fermanagh fundraising fixtures, drawing families, walking groups and cancer support networks from across the county for a morning that is deliberately relaxed rather than competitive.
Registration costs £10 per person, with children under 12 walking free as long as they are accompanied by a registered adult. The route follows the parkland paths around Castle Coole’s lake and woodland, an easy, mostly flat walk suitable for most fitness levels and for family groups with buggies or younger children. Dogs are not permitted on the walk. Once registered, participants receive fundraising materials and are encouraged to collect sponsorship through JustGiving or Facebook Fundraising ahead of the day, though turning up on the day just to walk and donate is also welcome. Refreshments are provided in the courtyard at Castle Coole once the walk is finished, giving everyone a chance to warm up and chat before heading home.
Castle Coole is a National Trust property just south east of Enniskillen town centre, off the Tempo Road, with its own car park on site. It is a short drive, or a walkable distance, from the town centre for anyone staying in Enniskillen itself.
Castle Coole sits on the edge of Enniskillen, Fermanagh’s county town, an easy add-on to a day exploring the lakes and shops in the town centre. There is more to explore across Co. Fermanagh.
