If you enjoy rummaging through other people’s treasures on a Saturday morning, or if you have a boot full of things looking for a new home, this monthly sale at Fermanagh Fun Farm is a well-established fixture in the local calendar. It draws sellers and browsers from across the county, and the farm setting - open fields rather than a car park - gives the whole thing a more relaxed feel than a typical boot sale. Families are welcome, and with the farm itself next door, it suits a morning out with children as much as a dedicated bargain hunt.
The sale takes place in a field on the grounds of Fermanagh Fun Farm, at 4 Slate Quarry Lane, Lisbellaw. Sellers pull up and set out from the boot; what you find depends on who has turned up - the usual mix of household goods, books, clothing, tools, bric-a-brac, and the occasional genuine find. Seller spaces are £10 per car, booked by ringing 028 6638 5060 in advance. Browsers and buyers get in free, with parking available in the farm car park. If you are not visiting the farm itself, you can park separately and walk to the field. The sale is weather dependent, so worth checking ahead if conditions look poor.
Lisbellaw sits on the A4, roughly 5 miles south-east of Enniskillen. From Enniskillen, follow signs for Maguiresbridge and you will pass through the village. The farm is signposted from there at 4 Slate Quarry Lane. A car is the most practical way to arrive - the car park is free. Travelling from Monaghan or Clones, the A54 connects with the A4 at Lisnaskea, from where it is a short run north to Lisbellaw.
The surrounding countryside rewards a longer morning - Upper Lough Erne lies a few miles to the south, and Enniskillen’s castle and town centre are a short drive north-west.
