What to Expect

Galway City Council ordinary meetings are the main forum where the city’s elected councillors conduct council business in public. The next meeting in the recurring monthly series falls on Monday 14 September 2026 at 3:00pm in City Hall. Councillors debate and vote on motions covering planning decisions, the municipal budget, housing, transport and other services affecting Galway City, and receive reports and updates from council officials on ongoing projects. Members of the public are entitled to observe proceedings from the public gallery, and the meeting is a useful way to follow how decisions affecting the city are actually made, rather than reading about them after the fact. Agendas are published in advance and minutes are made available afterwards, so residents who cannot attend in person can still follow what was discussed and decided.

City Hall is located on College Road in Galway City centre, within easy walking distance of Eyre Square and the main bus and rail station. The venue is served by city bus routes, and paid parking is available in surrounding streets and nearby car parks for those travelling by car.
