Camogie at its most competitive - this All-Ireland Senior Championship Group 1 clash brings Tipperary face to face with Galway in a match that carries real weight for both counties. Group 1 in 2026 contains Cork, Waterford, Galway and Tipperary - all four teams who reached the All-Ireland semi-finals in 2025, so there is no easy game anywhere in this pool. For Tipperary, the stakes are especially high: two defeats already in the group stage mean a third loss here would all but end their championship. Galway, on three points from one win and one loss, are under pressure of their own. It sets up a genuine contest between two proud camogie counties with plenty of history between them.
This is inter-county camogie at senior level - fast, physical and skilful. The Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship is the top tier of the sport, and the top two from each group advance to the quarter-finals in early July. Group 1 fixtures this year have been played at Kenny Park in Athenry and at Semple Stadium, Thurles - the specific venue for this June 28 game was not confirmed at time of writing, so check camogie.ie before making the trip.
Confirm the venue at camogie.ie/fixtures-results before setting out. If the match is assigned to Semple Stadium in Thurles, it is one of the most accessible GAA grounds in Ireland: Thurles sits on the main Dublin - Cork rail line and at the junction of the M8 and N62, with good parking nearby. If it goes to a Connacht ground, a car from Tipperary town via the M8 is the practical choice.
A championship camogie match is a fine excuse to take in a county with deep GAA roots - the Rock of Cashel and the food scene around Cashel and Clonmel make the journey worthwhile on their own. There is more to see in Tipperary and across Co. Tipperary.
