At Tinahely · Tinahely, Co. Wicklow
The Garden County 5k and 10k Run/Walk sends runners and walkers out along a quiet country road outside Tinahely on the evening of Friday, 28 August 2026, with registration from 5pm and a 7:30pm sharp start. It is a low-key, community-scale road race rather than a big-city event, run on closed rural roads in the south of the county, and it draws a mix of club runners chasing a time and casual walkers doing the 5k for fun.
Entrants choose between a 5k, open to both runners and walkers, and a 10k, for runners only, both run on the same quiet stretch of country road with minimal traffic to contend with. Finishers can choose between two bespoke medal designs, and there is an option to add a race t-shirt at registration. Prizes go to the first and second male and female finishers in both the 5k and the 10k. For anyone who cannot make it to Tinahely on the night, there is also a virtual entry option, with the medal and a completion certificate posted out afterwards. Being a summer evening event, the light is usually still good for the full field, and the atmosphere is relaxed rather than competitive for most of the entrants. Early online registration through Pop Up Races is cheaper than entering on the night.
