At Moat Theatre · Abbey Road, Naas, Co. Kildare
Gearóid Farrelly brings his critically acclaimed hour “No Pressure” to the Moat Theatre in Naas on 10 September 2026. If you have seen Farrelly on television - most recently as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars - you will already know his gift for finding the funny in the genuinely difficult. This show digs into a rough patch in his own life: a hospital stay, a sick cat, the particular absurdity of modern wellness culture. The result is a tight, warm, honest hour of stand-up that has drawn praise from the likes of Joanne McNally and Sarah Millican. It suits anyone who enjoys comedy that actually says something, not just a string of gags.
“No Pressure” runs for approximately two hours including any interval, with the performance itself clocking in at around an hour. Farrelly’s style is confessional and self-deprecating without tipping into self-pity - he unpacks the chaos of trying to hold things together as an adult and finds the absurdity in it. The show has toured venues across Ireland and the UK in 2026 and received consistently strong notices: Broadway Baby called him “an incredible performer” and the show has been described as “a solid and consistent hour of great stand-up.” Expect audience laughter rather than polite applause - this is comedy that lands.
The Moat Theatre itself is a lovely room for stand-up. It is a 200-seat black box studio that reopened in 2003 after a major redevelopment. The building has roots going back to a post-penal church, and the theatre’s name traces to the ancient motte near the town - once said to be a meeting place of the Kings of Leinster. It is an intimate venue where there is no bad seat.
Naas is about 30 km south-west of Dublin city centre and sits just off the M7 motorway. By car from Dublin it is roughly 35 minutes outside of heavy traffic; from Limerick or Cork it is a natural stop on the way up. The N7 dual carriageway bypasses the town but junction signs for Naas town centre are clear. Street parking is available on the evening around the town centre, and there are pay car parks within a short walk of Abbey Road. By bus, Dublin Coach and Bus Eireann operate regular services between Dublin and Naas; the bus stop for the town centre is a few minutes’ walk from the theatre. There is no train station in Naas itself.
Naas has a compact town centre with good pubs and restaurants worth a visit before the show - the main square and surrounding streets have plenty of options for an early dinner. There is more to see in Naas and across Co. Kildare.
