Greystones Regatta

Greystones Harbour hosts its stop on the East Coast Rowing Council’s skiff racing calendar on Saturday, 25 July 2026, with crews from clubs up and down the Dublin and Wicklow coast racing traditional wooden skiffs. It is one of nine regattas that make up the east coast season, and it brings a Saturday of close, physical racing to the harbour front.

What to expect

Coastal skiff racing pits crews of four rowers and a cox against each other over short, sharp courses just offshore, and the East Coast Rowing Council season runs from clubs like Dun Laoghaire, Dalkey and Skerries in May down to Wicklow Rowing Club’s home regatta in early August. Greystones’ turn comes near the end of that run, by which point crews are sharpened up and the racing tends to be tight. Categories usually cover men’s, women’s and junior crews across several boat classes, so there is racing for most of the day rather than a single headline event. Spectators can watch the boats from the harbour wall and pier for free, with the atmosphere building through the morning as more races are completed. Local clubs typically run a tea tent or similar for supporters between races.

Getting there

Greystones Harbour is at the southern end of the town, a short walk from Greystones DART station and the town’s main street. There is public parking near the harbour, though it fills up on regatta mornings, and the DART is the easiest way to reach the harbour from Bray or Dublin.
