At GVM Group Tullamore Mart · Arden Road, Tullamore, Co. Offaly
GVM Tullamore Mart runs a dedicated weanling sale every Monday evening, one of four weekly livestock sales that make Arden Road one of the busiest marts in the midlands. Weanling bulls and heifers come through the ring straight from suckler herds across Offaly, Westmeath and Laois, with buyers ranging from finishers to farmers restocking after summer grass. The mart has operated in Tullamore since 1956 as part of the GVM Group, formerly Golden Vale Co-operative Mart, and the Monday weanling sale is one of its longest-running fixtures.
Weanling bulls and heifers are taken in from around 2pm, with a viewing window before the ring opens at 5:30pm. Lots are penned by weight and breed so buyers can walk the sheds before bidding starts, and an auctioneer runs the ring in the traditional call-and-response style, with prices also relayed through GVM’s online auction partners for remote bidders who cannot attend in person. Numbers vary through the year and typically build from late summer as farmers sell autumn-born weanlings off their mothers. The mart has a dedicated show ring used for pedigree cattle sales on Saturdays, and GVM publish a weekly trade report after each sale summarising prices per kilo for the main breeds. Farmers wanting to enter stock should contact the mart office in advance to book a pen.
GVM Tullamore Mart is on Arden Road on the eastern side of Tullamore town, a short drive from the N52 and N80. There is on-site parking for cars and trailers. The mart office can be reached on 057 932 1196 or tullamore@gvm.ie for entry queries.
