At De La Salle Pastoral Centre · De La Salle Pastoral Centre, Wicklow Town, Co. Wicklow
The Irish Countrywomen’s Association’s Wicklow Town Guild meets on the second Monday of the month at the De La Salle Pastoral Centre, one of fourteen ICA guilds across County Wicklow under the Wicklow Federation. The ICA describes itself as the largest women’s association in Ireland, with more than ten thousand members in over five hundred guilds nationwide, and the Wicklow Town branch keeps the tradition going locally with a monthly meeting that runs from September through to June.
Meetings start at 7.30pm and follow the usual ICA guild format: a business section covering federation and national ICA news, followed by a talk, demonstration or craft activity chosen by the guild’s committee for that month, and a social close with tea. Guilds like this one are the backbone of the ICA nationally, each running its own programme of speakers and activities while feeding into the wider Wicklow Federation and the national association. The guild does not meet in July or August, picking back up each September, so the September meeting is effectively the guild’s first gathering of the new season. New members and visitors are generally welcomed at guild meetings, in keeping with the ICA’s community remit.
De La Salle Pastoral Centre is in Wicklow town, within walking distance of the town centre for local members and close to on street parking for anyone travelling in.
The guild meets in Wicklow, the county town on Wicklow’s east coast. There is more to explore across Co. Wicklow for visitors combining a trip with other stops in the area.
