Indian Showband at Moat Theatre

At The Moat Theatre · The Moat Theatre, Naas, Co. Kildare

Indian Showband performing at Moat Theatre

The New Indians brings the golden era of the Irish showband back to life at the Moat Theatre in Naas on Thursday, 2 July 2026. This is a live production show honouring The Indians Showband - one of Ireland’s most loved bands from the 1960s through to the 1980s - alongside beloved hits associated with Dickie Rock, Red Hurley, and Joe Dolan. If you grew up dancing to those names, or if you simply want to understand what the showband era actually sounded like when it was at its peak, this is the kind of night the Moat Theatre does well: intimate, proper, and full of people who genuinely know the songs.

What to expect

The New Indians is a full live band show, not a DJ set or a covers duo. The production is built around the repertoire of The Indians Showband, which formed in Dublin in 1963 and became a fixture in dancehalls and ballrooms across Ireland. Expect big-band energy, singalong moments, and the kind of music that was made for dancing. The set draws on material associated with Dickie Rock - whose smooth ballads made him one of Ireland’s biggest performers of the era - and Joe Dolan, whose catalogue has held up remarkably well across generations. The show runs from 20:00 to 22:00, giving it a tight, focused two-hour run that does not outstay its welcome.

Getting there

Naas is the county town of Kildare, sitting about 30 km south-west of Dublin on the M7 motorway. By car from Dublin, it is typically 30 to 40 minutes depending on traffic. Bus Eireann and Dublin Coach run regular services between Dublin city centre and Naas; the journey takes around an hour. The Moat Theatre is in Naas town centre, within easy walking distance of the main street. Street parking and pay-and-display spaces are available in the town centre, and there are public car parks a short walk from the venue.

While you’re in Naas

Naas has a good selection of pubs and restaurants in the town centre, making it straightforward to eat before or have a drink after the show. The surrounding county offers everything from the Curragh plains and the Japanese Gardens at Tully to the canals and heritage towns in between. There is more to see in Naas and across Co. Kildare.
