Inter-Weave brings together four established Irish traditional musicians - Diarmaid Moynihan, harper Laoise Kelly, fiddle player Tóla Custy and uilleann piper Emer Mayock - for a free performance at the Linenhall Arts Centre on Wednesday 16 September 2026, staged as a flagship cultural event tied to Ireland’s EU Presidency. The programme is framed as “a musical map of Europe’s Atlantic fringe,” tracing a route along the west coast of Ireland through Brittany, Galicia and Asturias, and blending ancient melodies with newly composed pieces that draw out the shared roots of these Atlantic musical traditions. A visual presentation runs alongside the music, built around the coastal landscapes of each region, and scholar Lorna Shaughnessy provides spoken commentary connecting the performance to wider questions of how cultural traditions travel and persist across borders. It is a more reflective, listening-focused evening than a standard trad concert, closer to a recital with narration than a session.
