At Claremorris Town Hall Theatre · Town Hall Road, Claremorris, Co. Mayo, F12 X4E3
Joe The Magician, familiar to younger audiences from RTEjr’s Dizzy Deliveries, brings his live comedy magic show to Claremorris Town Hall Theatre for one afternoon performance in October.
The 70-minute show mixes what the venue bills as laugh-out-loud comedy magic with large-scale illusions built for a live stage rather than television, including a flying table, a live snowstorm indoors and what the show describes as magical friendly ghosts. It is pitched at children aged 4 and up but written to keep adults entertained too, leaning on Joe’s comic timing as much as the tricks themselves. The show has toured previously in Ireland and the UK, and the venue notes that earlier performances have sold out, so it is not a last-minute booking for families who want to be sure of seats close to the stage. Doors open at 2pm ahead of the 3pm start, with the venue’s shop and concession service available beforehand, giving families time to settle in rather than rushing straight to their seats. Claremorris Town Hall Theatre is a proper theatre space rather than a hall with a stage bolted on, so sightlines and sound are built for exactly this kind of touring family show.
Claremorris is on the N17, about 30km southeast of Castlebar, with Bus Eireann services connecting it to Castlebar and Galway. Claremorris railway station, on the Dublin to Westport and Ballina line, is a short walk from the Town Hall Theatre in the centre of town.
