Kellogg's GAA Cul Camps Carlow 2026

Every summer, GAA clubs across Co. Carlow open their gates to a few hundred children who spend a week running, catching, striking, and playing games from morning to early afternoon. Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps are the biggest youth sports camps in Ireland, and the Carlow edition runs at local club grounds through July and August 2026. They suit boys and girls aged 6 to 13, from absolute beginners to kids who already train with a club - the coaching is game-based and age-appropriate, so no child is left standing on the sideline wondering what to do next.

What to expect

Each day runs from 10am to 2pm, Monday to Friday. Coaches work through Gaelic football, hurling, and camogie across the week, focusing on a different skill set each day - hand-passing, kicking, striking, fielding - and then weaving those skills into small-sided games so children are practising in a real context rather than just drilling. By Friday, a mini blitz pulls everything together and gives every child a taste of competitive play in a low-pressure setting.

The programme also includes a nutrition element called Powering Play, which looks at healthy eating and the role of food in fuelling sport - it runs as part of the camp activities rather than a separate lecture, so it lands naturally with the age group. First-time campers receive a Cúl Camps jersey and bag as part of their registration; repeat campers who already have the kit book at a reduced rate.

Inclusive camps for children with additional needs are available in Carlow - check the booking site for exact dates and venues, as these run separately from the main programme.

Getting there

Carlow town is about an hour south of Dublin on the M9 motorway, making it one of the more accessible county towns from the capital. From Kilkenny it is a 30-minute drive north on the N10. Bus Éireann routes connect Carlow to Dublin and Waterford, and Carlow train station on the Dublin Heuston line is served regularly throughout the day. Camps are held at individual GAA club grounds across the county - the exact venue for each week appears on the booking page when you select Carlow, so it is worth confirming the specific location before the first morning.

While you’re in Carlow

Carlow town sits on the River Barrow and has a good stretch of cafes and independent shops around Tullow Street and the lanes off it. Carlow Castle - a Norman keep that stands in a small riverside park - is five minutes on foot from the town centre and makes a short detour worth doing. There is more to see in Carlow and across Co. Carlow.
