Emergency Services Open Day, Tralee Town Park

What to Expect

The Emergency Services Open Day returns to Tralee Town Park on Saturday 15 August 2026, timed to coincide with Feile Thra Li and the Rose of Tralee International Festival. Organised by An Garda Siochana, the free family day brings together displays and demonstrations from the local state and voluntary emergency organisations that serve Kerry, including the Fire Service, the National Ambulance Service, the Defence Forces and other emergency response units. Vehicles, equipment and personnel are on show along Neil Armstrong Way in the park, giving children and adults a close look at the services that respond to emergencies across the county. The day includes a dedicated sensory hour from 12 to 1pm for visitors who prefer a quieter, less crowded first hour.

The open day has become an established part of Feile Thra Li week, giving the emergency services a chance to meet the public outside of an emergency setting and to talk to children in particular about what each service does. Because it runs during the festival, Tralee town centre and the Town Park area are busier than usual, with the open day sitting alongside the wider programme of family events that build up to the Rose of Tralee selection itself later in the festival week. It is a low-key, walk-up event rather than a ticketed one, so visitors can drop by for as long or as short a time as suits them.

Getting There

Tralee Town Park is a short walk from the town centre, off the Dan Spring Road side of town, with pedestrian access from Denny Street and the Ashe Memorial Hall area. Parking in the town centre car parks and a walk in is the easiest option during the busy festival week.
