The K10K 2026 - Kiltale GAA 5k and 10k

At Kiltale GAA Grounds · Kiltale, Co. Meath

Runners at the Kiltale GAA 5k and 10k charity run

An evening road race with a proper post-run party attached - the K10K is one of those events that pulls in seasoned club runners and total beginners in equal measure. Kiltale GAA’s annual 5k and 10k charity run takes place on a summer Saturday evening, raising money for Jigsaw, the national youth mental health charity. It suits anyone who wants to put in a timed effort, anyone who just wants to jog a 5k for a good cause, and families with under-16s (who get free entry to the 5k). The barbecue and live music that follow make it a social evening as much as a race.

What to expect

Registration and number collection opens at 6pm, giving you a good hour to warm up, collect your bib, and get your bearings before the 7:30pm start. Both distances - the 5k and the 10k - go from Kiltale GAA Grounds through the Meath countryside; the course routes have been confirmed by the club each year ahead of the event. The 10k is a solid effort for the summer with daylight well on your side at that hour in July.

The race is organised through Pop Up Races and EventMaster, so chip timing and proper results are part of the package rather than an afterthought. Medals and t-shirts are included with registration; under-16s running the 5k for free do not receive these by default, but can get them by registering under an adult ticket.

After the finish line, the evening continues at the grounds with a barbecue and live music - which tends to be where the real craic of a GAA-run event kicks in. Kiltale is a hurling and camogie club, and events like this typically have a strong community turnout beyond just the running crowd.

Getting there

Kiltale sits in quiet farmland between Dunshaughlin and Navan, roughly five kilometres north of Dunshaughlin on the R154. It is easiest to reach by car. From Dublin, take the M3 motorway and exit at junction 7 for Dunshaughlin, then head north through the village. Ample parking is available at the GAA grounds on the evening. Public transport to Kiltale itself is limited - Bus Eireann serves Dunshaughlin on the Navan route, but you would need a car or lift from there.

While you’re in Dunshaughlin

Dunshaughlin is a tidy market town with a handful of good places to eat and a strong community feel. The surrounding area is prime Meath countryside, with the Hill of Tara and the Boyne Valley within easy reach for anyone making a day of it. There is more to see in Dunshaughlin and across Co. Meath.
