At The Glens Centre · The New Line, Manorhamilton, Co. Leitrim
If you have a child aged 9 to 12 who loves performing, The Glens Centre’s Junior Youth Theatre is one of the best things happening in north Leitrim this autumn. The ten-week Monday-evening programme runs from September through December, giving young people a proper grounding in drama - ensemble work, performance skills, and the kind of confidence that only comes from actually doing it on a real stage. It is not a once-off workshop; it is a sustained creative commitment, and it ends with a performance in front of an audience.
Sessions meet weekly on Monday evenings under experienced tutors who have been running drama for young people in this region for years. The work focuses on dramatic technique and ensemble - listening, timing, physical presence, and working as part of a group. There are also offsite workshop days woven into the season. The autumn term culminates in an end-of-term show on The Glens’ own stage, giving participants the full experience of performing in an actual theatre space. Leitrim County Council supports the programme, which keeps the fees low - starting from EUR 30 for the season. New members are always welcome, and the centre encourages families to get in touch ahead of the start date.
