The Ballinamore Agricultural Show is one of the highlights of the South Leitrim summer - a proper country show that has been running for over six decades. The 63rd edition takes place at Creamer’s Field on Golf Links Road, admission is free, and it has the feel of something the whole region turns out for. Families, farming folk, and anyone with an interest in rural life will find plenty to keep them occupied for a few hours.
The show covers an impressive range of classes across sixteen competition categories. On the livestock side, you will find cattle (both commercial and pedigree), sheep, and donkeys being put through their paces by breeders who have worked all year toward the day. The horse section is a serious draw - brood mares with their foals, young horses, thoroughbreds, Irish Draught and ponies, plus carriage driving demonstrations.
Beyond the livestock rings, there are sections for home industries, arts and crafts, photography, and horticulture and flowers - categories that reflect how much of the wider community is involved. Vintage machinery is usually on display and trade stands give you something to browse between classes. The show sits inside the Ballinamore Family Festival (9-16 August 2026), a week-long event bringing live music and outdoor concerts to the town - so there is a lot happening in Ballinamore that week if you want to make more of the trip.
Ballinamore is in South Leitrim, roughly 20 km east of Carrick-on-Shannon and about 25 km south of Manorhamilton. By road, the N87 links it to Carrick-on-Shannon and the N87/R202 corridor connects it toward Cavan. Creamer’s Field sits on Golf Links Road on the outskirts of town - easy to find from the Main Street, and parking is available on and near the field. Bus Eireann serves the town on the Sligo-Cavan route; check current timetables as services are infrequent on this corridor.
The town sits on the Shannon-Erne Waterway and is a good base for walking, cycling, and fishing in South Leitrim. There is more to see in Ballinamore and across Co. Leitrim.
