Lisnaskea 5K in Aid of Fermanagh Down Syndrome Support Group

The Lisnaskea 5K returns to the streets of Lisnaskea on Friday, 28 August 2026, for its second running, with all proceeds going to the Fermanagh Down Syndrome Support Group. Entry costs GBP 20 and includes chip timing, and the race is open to runners and walkers of every age and ability. Registration takes place at St Ronan’s Parish Centre, with post-race refreshments served afterwards at Archdale Hall.

What to expect

The race follows a 5-kilometre route through the town, timed with chip technology so runners get an accurate finish time regardless of how congested the start is. It is the second year the event has run, after a successful launch in 2025 established it as a fixture on the local racing calendar. The first 400 people to register receive a bespoke event T-shirt, and prizes are awarded across a range of categories rather than just to the overall winners, so club runners and first-time entrants both have something to aim for. McDade Retail Ltd sponsors the race. The charity partner is the Fermanagh Down Syndrome Support Group, a local group supporting families in the county, and its chairperson has said members are looking forward to taking part alongside the wider field, with some planning to walk or jog the distance themselves rather than just fundraise from the sidelines.

Getting there

Lisnaskea is on the A34, about 20 minutes south of Enniskillen and close to the border with Co. Monaghan. Registration and race-day sign-up are based at St Ronan’s Parish Centre in the town, with parking available in Lisnaskea itself; runners should expect Main Street and surrounding roads to be busier than usual while the race is on.

Lisnaskea is one of south Fermanagh’s main towns, sitting between Upper Lough Erne and the Monaghan border, with the ruins of Castle Balfour on its Main Street.
