Warhammer Miniature Painting Workshop at Edgeworthstown Library

Edgeworthstown Library runs a Warhammer miniature painting workshop for ages 10 to 15 on Saturday, 8 August 2026, teaching basic painting techniques on tabletop gaming figures. The session runs for an hour, from 11am to 12pm, and each participant takes their finished figurine home afterwards. It is free but registration is required, since places and materials are limited to the group the library can supply on the day.

What to expect

Warhammer is a tabletop miniature wargame built around painting and collecting armies of small plastic figures, and this session strips that hobby down to its most approachable part: sitting down with brushes, paints and a single miniature and learning how to build up colour, shade and detail without needing any of the game’s rules or a collection to start with. A tutor talks the group through basic techniques such as base coating, layering and picking out detail, working at a pace suited to beginners rather than experienced hobby painters. It runs the same day as the library’s Pokemon and football cards swap, so families can combine both into one library visit. The library has also run a separate adult session on the same theme later in August for anyone who gets hooked and wants to come back without the age limit.

Edgeworthstown Library is on Main Street, on the N4 about fifteen minutes north of Longford town by car. The railway station on the Dublin to Sligo line is a five-minute walk from the library.
