A full summer of outdoor adventure awaits children at Boyne Valley Activities in Trim, with day camps running from late June right through to mid-August 2026. Set on the banks of the River Boyne, this is the kind of camp where kids come home wet, tired, and already asking when they can go back. It suits children aged 10 to 15 who are comfortable getting outside, and no previous experience in any of the activities is needed.
Each camp session runs Tuesday to Friday from 9:30am to 12:45pm - just over three hours of activity. The programme covers three disciplines: kayaking on the River Boyne, archery on land, and the Boyne Riverside Challenge Course. The kayaks are sit-on-top beginner models, and guides from Boyne Valley Activities hold Canoeing Ireland certification, so the water safety side is well managed. The river is waist-deep in most stretches, and personal flotation devices are provided - swimming ability is not required. Wetsuits are also supplied; children should arrive wearing shorts and a t-shirt underneath, and bring old trainers that can get wet. A packed lunch is essential, though tea, coffee, ice cream, and snacks are available at the covered riverside coffee shop for parents who stay to watch. Changing rooms and showers are on site.
Two age groups run in separate sessions: 10 to 12 year-olds and 13 to 15 year-olds, each priced at €200 for the week. A Teenage Kicks day option for 13 to 17 year-olds is also available at €40 per day. Places book up fast, so early booking via the website is strongly advised.
Trim is roughly 45 minutes from Dublin city centre, off the N3/M3. The town is a manageable drive from most of Leinster. There is limited parking at the Boyne Valley Activities base itself; paid parking is available across the road for €2 cash, so bring coins. There is no direct bus service to the activity centre itself - the town is served by Bus Eireann from Dublin, but the site is best reached by car.
Trim is a compact, rewarding town to explore while the kids are on the water. Ireland’s largest Norman castle sits a short walk from the river, and the surrounding meadow is free to wander. There is more to see in Trim and across Co. Meath.
