The Hill of Tara is one of Ireland’s most iconic ancient sites, the ceremonial seat of the High Kings of Ireland and home to monuments over 5,000 years old. The site is freely accessible at all times and guides are available on site from 1 May to 30 September 2026. Guided tours of approximately 35-40 minutes are available on request (maximum 50 people). A visitor centre with an audio-visual exhibition is on site. Families can collect activity sheets for children aged 7-11 and 12-15. The Tara Lecture Series runs on the first four Wednesdays of July.

The Hill of Tara is located off the N3, approximately 12km south of Navan, Co. Meath. Car parking is available beside the site.
