Children's summer reading programme at Meath library

What to Expect

Summer Stars is the free national reading programme for children, running in all Meath public libraries from early June to the end of August. Every child who reads even one book is regarded as having completed the programme. Children can sign up at any Meath library branch - including Navan, Trim, Kells and Dunshaughlin - receive a reading card, and collect rewards. The programme is non-competitive and completely free.

  • Runs June to end of August 2026 at all Meath library branches.

  • Free; open to all children - sign up at your local branch.

  • Navan Library is on Railway Street, Navan.

  • Libraries also run associated events (storytimes, craft workshops) throughout the summer - check individual branch pages.

  • Meath Libraries also bring back Reading Rewards and a Homework Pass initiative.

Getting There

Meath libraries are located across the county. Navan Library, Railway Street, is the largest branch and accessible by Bus Eireann.
