TF Royal itself has almost as long a history as Begley’s own career: the venue grew out of the Royal Ballroom, which opened in 1961, moved to a dedicated theatre format for concerts in 1999, and built a 1,500-seat theatre in 2005 as the prototype for the current 2,200-seat, 4,000-capacity standing auditorium. That scale makes it the largest venue of its kind outside Dublin, with no comparable theatre within roughly 150 miles.

Getting There

TF Royal is on the Old Westport Road on the edge of Castlebar, with on-site parking and a multi-storey car park nearby. Castlebar sits on the N5, roughly two and a half hours from Dublin and an hour from Galway, and is served by Bus Eireann from Dublin, Galway, Westport and Ballina.
