At The Market House · Main Street, Mountshannon, Co. Clare, V94 C593
Mountshannon Community Market takes place on the first Saturday of every month except January, from 11am to 3pm, in and around the old Market House on the village’s Main Street. Around 20 stallholders typically set up each month, split between the inside of the Market House and the square outside, selling a mix of crafts, organic sourdough and other home baking, vintage clothing, natural cosmetics, organic vegetables, locally fermented foods such as sauerkraut and kimchi, ceramics, books, plants, and hot food with both meat and vegan options. The market runs from February through December and has become a fixture for the East Clare and Lough Derg community, drawing shoppers from Scariff, Tuamgraney, Whitegate and across the lake in Tipperary as well as Mountshannon itself. Beyond the regular monthly market, the organisers run a two-day festival market over the June bank holiday weekend at Aistear Park and a Christmas market on the second Sunday of Advent across two venues in the village, both larger than the standard monthly gathering. Mountshannon sits directly on Lough Derg and is a noted spot for wildlife, including a white-tailed eagle nest visible from the village, so a market visit is often combined with a walk along the lakeshore.
Mountshannon is on the eastern shore of Lough Derg in East Clare, about 40km from Ennis via the R352 and R463. Parking is available in the village near the Market House.
