Naas GAA Senior Football Championship 2026

At Cedral St Conleth's Park · Newbridge, Co. Kildare

Naas GAA Senior Football Championship

County championship football in Kildare is serious business, and when Naas GAA take to the field in the Joe Mallon Motors Senior Football Championship, the stakes are high from the opening whistle. Naas are one of the county’s most competitive clubs, and their Group D campaign - alongside Moorefield, Clogherinkoe, and Eadestown - promises tight, locally charged football that means far more to those watching than any league fixture. If you follow Kildare GAA, or just want to see inter-county club football at close quarters in a newly rebuilt stadium, this is the kind of occasion worth planning around.

What to expect

Naas play their home group matches at Cedral St Conleth’s Park in Newbridge, the county ground of Kildare GAA. The ground reopened in late 2024 after a major redevelopment, and it is a different venue to what older supporters will remember. Capacity is now 15,000, with a new 3,000-seat stand, floodlights, upgraded dressing rooms, and a pitch extended to Croke Park dimensions. The atmosphere at county championship games here can be sharp and partisan - these are tight-knit Kildare clubs with deep local rivalries.

Group D is a round-robin format, meaning Naas face each of their three group opponents once in the group stage, with the top teams progressing to knockout rounds. Moorefield are Naas’s closest rivals geographically and historically, so that fixture in particular tends to attract a decent crowd. Match times vary across the group stage; check kildaregaa.ie in the week before each game for confirmed throw-in times and gate details.

Getting there

Newbridge is well connected by road and rail. From Dublin, the M7 brings you directly south-west to Newbridge in roughly 45 minutes; from Naas, it is a short drive across the N7. By train, Irish Rail runs regular services on the Dublin Heuston to Portlaoise and Limerick lines, stopping at Newbridge station, which is a short walk or taxi ride from St Conleth’s Park. Parking is available in the town; the ground itself has limited spaces, so arriving early or walking from the town centre is the easier option on match days.

While you’re in Newbridge

Newbridge town centre has a good range of cafes and restaurants worth a stop before or after the match. There is more to see in Newbridge and across Co. Kildare.
