What to Expect

National Heritage Week 2026 celebrates Westmeath heritage and culture with the theme ‘Pastimes Past Times’. Over 60 live events and workshops are hosted across the county at historic sites including Belvedere House, Athlone Castle, and the Royal Canal. In Athlone, Connaught Street hosts a packed programme including the Over 40s 5-a-side Football Tournament (culminating August 22) and Living Heritage Day on August 23 in Connaught Gardens with Army Band and Pipe Band performances.
