National Theatre Live: Inter Alia

At Mermaid Arts Centre · Main Street, Bray, Co. Wicklow

Courtroom scene from the play Inter Alia

National Theatre Live brings its broadcast of Inter Alia to Mermaid Arts Centre in Bray on Friday, 21 August 2026 at 8pm. Rosamund Pike stars as Jessica Parks, a Crown Court judge trying to hold together her career, her marriage and her son’s life when a single event threatens to upend all three. It is the second collaboration between writer Suzie Miller and director Justin Martin after their acclaimed play Prima Facie, filmed live on stage in London and screened in cinemas.

What to expect

Inter Alia is staged at the National Theatre in London and broadcast to cinemas and arts centres worldwide as part of the National Theatre Live programme, the same model that brought Prima Facie to audiences who could not get to the West End. The play follows Jessica through courtroom scenes and home life, examining what happens when the private life of a woman who judges others starts to unravel in public. Critics have highlighted Pike’s performance as the emotional centre of a story about modern motherhood and masculinity. At Mermaid, the broadcast runs 111 minutes with an interval, on the venue’s cinema screen rather than live on stage. Wheelchair-accessible seating is available but must be booked directly through the box office rather than online, since accessible spaces are not bookable through the general ticketing system.

Getting there

Mermaid Arts Centre is on Main Street in Bray, beside Bray’s Civic Centre and next to Bank of Ireland, a short walk from Bray Daly DART station. Dublin Bus and Bus Éireann routes stop in the town centre, and there are car parks nearby for anyone driving from elsewhere in the county.

While you’re in Bray

An evening screening pairs well with dinner in Bray beforehand, since the town centre has restaurants and pubs within a few minutes’ walk of the Mermaid, and the DART makes a late finish easy for anyone travelling from Dublin. There is more to see in Bray and across Co. Wicklow.
