Navan RFC - 2026-27 Season Home Fixtures

At Balreask Old · Balreask Old, Navan, Co. Meath

Rugby players at Navan RFC ground

Navan RFC have been playing rugby in Co. Meath since 1925, and the 2026-27 season brings another round of home fixtures to Balreask Old - the club’s ground on the eastern edge of town that has hosted matches since the early 1960s. The club competes in Division 2B of the All-Ireland League (AIL) as well as the Leinster League, which means a genuine step up in the standard of club rugby and a chance to watch competitive provincial and national league football across a full autumn-to-spring programme. If you have any interest in Irish rugby beyond the internationals, this is exactly the sort of club rugby that the game is built on.

What to expect

Balreask Old is a proper club ground - four full-size pitches with floodlighting, a large bar and function area that fills up well before and after home games, and the kind of easy social atmosphere that belongs to a club with a century of roots in the town. Navan run senior men’s and women’s sections, plus a well-regarded underage academy, so on a typical home weekend there can be multiple grades playing across the day. The AIL fixtures tend to draw the biggest crowds; Leinster League matches are slightly lower key but no less competitive. Exact kick-off times vary by fixture and grade, so checking navanrugby.com or the ClubZap app before you travel is worth the thirty seconds.

Getting there

Navan is about 50 km north-west of Dublin on the M3 motorway - around 45 minutes by car from the city. Bus Eireann operates services from Busaras to Navan town, with the journey taking roughly an hour. Balreask Old is on the Dublin Road on the eastern outskirts of town, close to the ring road, and easy to find whether you are coming from Dublin or from elsewhere in Meath. Parking is available at the ground.

While you’re in Navan

Navan is the county town of Meath, with a solid range of pubs, restaurants and places to eat close to the town centre. Trim Castle - one of the largest Anglo-Norman castles in Ireland - is a 15-minute drive away and well worth the detour if you are making a day of it. There is more to see in Navan and across Co. Meath.
