Pints, Dentures & Rock N Roll in the Country

At Roscommon Arts Centre · Roscommon Town, Co. Roscommon

Pints, Dentures & Rock N Roll in the Country poster

Tadhg J Devery has built a loyal following on the Irish comedy circuit by doing one thing exceptionally well - peopling a small rural village with characters so believable you are certain you know them. His 2026 tour, Pints, Dentures & Rock N Roll in the Country, is a follow-up to the well-received A Day In The Country, and by all accounts he has gone bigger, louder, and considerably more chaotic this time round. It is an evening of pure character comedy: no stand-up monologue, no PowerPoint slides, just a cast of walking disasters from one very troubled parish brought vividly to life by a single performer. Good for anyone who has ever lived in rural Ireland, grown up near it, or simply enjoys watching things unravel at speed.

What to expect

The show runs through a gallery of village archetypes that will feel uncomfortably familiar. Noel the farmer is one broken fence away from open warfare with his neighbour. Breda the housewife has opinions on everything and time for nothing. Seamus the plumber operates on pints, instinct, and the vague hope that a wrench will sort it. Brendan the undertaker has found a sideline recycling the possessions of the recently departed - including, apparently, their dentures. And making his stage debut is Johnny “The Jelly-Tot” Kelly, a failed country-rock singer originally from Roscommon, which gives the Roscommon Arts Centre audience a particular reason to pay attention.

Devery describes the show as a “full-throttle leap into madness” and audiences at earlier tour dates have reported jump scares, unexpected physical comedy, and genuine laugh-out-loud moments throughout. This is not a gentle evening - it is fast-paced and deliberately unhinged, and runs roughly two hours.

Getting there

Roscommon town is on the N61, roughly midway between Athlone (25 minutes) and Boyle (30 minutes). From Dublin, take the M4/N55 or the M6 to Athlone and then north on the N61 - allow around two hours from the city. Bus Eireann serves Roscommon town on routes from Dublin, Galway, and Sligo; the town centre is a short walk from the bus stops. Roscommon Arts Centre is on Circular Road, close to the town centre. On-street parking is available nearby in the evening, and there is a town car park a short walk from the venue.

While you’re in Roscommon

Roscommon town has a fine Norman castle ruin at its northern edge, free to visit and worth twenty minutes before dinner. The surrounding county is lake country - Lough Key to the north and Lough Ree to the south - with good walks and forest parks if you are staying the night. There is more to see in Roscommon and across Co. Roscommon.
