At Enniscorthy Town Centre · Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford
Pulze Festival is a two-day community event in Enniscorthy built around movement, music and mental wellbeing. It is backed by The Verida Project, a mental health research and outreach organisation, which gives the weekend a purpose beyond the usual summer fair. There are road races for those who want to compete, a fun run for anyone happy to stroll the course, live street music across the town, food stalls along the promenade, and a lantern parade on the River Slaney that brings the festival to a quietly memorable close. It suits runners, families, and anyone who just wants a good reason to spend a July weekend in Wexford.
Saturday 11 July centres on the Pulze 10K - a chip-timed competitive race with four scenic laps of roughly 2.5km each, following the River Slaney promenade and looping through the town streets. The race starts at noon, is open to both men and women, and offers age-group prizes, club competition and a corporate team challenge category. Finisher medals are awarded. Registration costs €30 (plus a booking fee) through Eventmaster, and entries close at race time.
Sunday 12 July is a more relaxed affair: the 5K fun run covers two laps of the same stretch and is open to walkers, joggers and runners of any pace, with families and children particularly welcome.
Running through both days, the streets around Market Square and the riverside fill out with a food cart alley of local and regional vendors, a family fun zone, children’s entertainment, and live music ranging from pop to traditional Irish. A Family Festival Trail takes younger visitors through activity points across the town.
The weekend closes with the River Slaney Lantern Memorial Parade - a moving remembrance event in which lit lanterns are released on the river at dusk, offered as a tribute to people no longer with us.
Enniscorthy sits on the N11/M11 Dublin-to-Wexford road, roughly 140km south of Dublin and 24km north of Wexford town. By car it is a straightforward drive, with town-centre parking along the river and at several off-street car parks nearby. Bus Eireann serves Enniscorthy on the Dublin-Wexford Expressway route (route 5), with regular departures from Busaras; the journey takes around two hours. Wexford town also has an Iarnrod Eireann rail connection if you are travelling by train and happy to transfer.
The town is worth time on its own terms - Vinegar Hill, the site of the 1798 rebellion, is a short walk from the centre and gives a wide view over the Slaney valley. The National 1798 Rebellion Centre is in town if the history draws you. There is more to see in Enniscorthy and across Co. Wexford.
