The last Saturday of every month from March to September, a farmers market sets up at Sage and Stone on the Julianstown Road outside Duleek. Entry is free, the hours run from 11am to 4pm, and the whole thing sits inside one of the most pleasantly distracting venues in east Meath - a working farmyard that also holds a café, a gift gallery, and a small food hall stocking carefully chosen Irish artisan lines. It suits anyone who wants to combine a proper morning out with some honest shopping: local food, crafts, and the kind of things you don’t find in a supermarket.
The market brings local food producers and artisan stallholders together on the Sage and Stone grounds. The venue’s own food hall gives a sense of the calibre aimed for - producers like Derrycamma Rapeseed Oil, Big Red Kitchen preserves, and Dunany Flour sit on its permanent shelves, and the market stalls tend to complement that ethos. You’ll find fresh and preserved foods, baked goods, and handmade items. The café is open throughout, serving breakfast until noon and lunch from 12:30pm, so there’s no need to rush in hungry. The farmyard itself is part of the appeal - farm animals are on site, there’s outdoor seating when the weather holds, and the gift gallery (jewellery, vintage furniture, home accessories, skincare) is worth a wander even if you have come purely for the market.
Duleek sits on the R152 in eastern Co. Meath, roughly 10 km southwest of Drogheda and about 40 km north of Dublin. From Dublin, take the M1 north to junction 7 (Julianstown), then local roads into Duleek. From Drogheda it is a straightforward 15-minute drive. Bus Eireann route 188 (Drogheda - Navan) also serves Duleek, though Saturday services are limited, so check times before travelling. Parking is available on-site at Sage and Stone.
Duleek has a quiet historic core worth pausing in - the town takes its name from the early Christian stone church founded here in the fifth century, and ruins of the medieval priory still stand near the village centre.
