Natural Heritage Art and Photography Exhibition

The Donegal Bay Trust brings its annual art and photography competition to Mullaghmore for one evening on Thursday 20 August 2026, showing finalist entries inspired by the wildlife, coastlines and landscapes of the wider bay. Mullaghmore sits on the Sligo side of Donegal Bay, and the exhibition is a chance to see how local photographers and artists have interpreted the coastline that runs from here around to Donegal. Entry is free but places are limited, so advance booking is recommended.

What to expect

The evening centres on a display of finalist artworks and photographs from the Trust’s open competition, all responding to the natural heritage of Donegal Bay. Visitors can browse the collection, vote for their favourite entries, and stay for the premiere of the Trust’s new short film about the bay, followed by a guest film screening. It is a relaxed, sociable evening aimed at anyone with an interest in the coastline, whether through art, photography or the area’s wildlife and habitats, rather than a formal gallery opening. The Beach Hotel’s function space hosts the display, with light refreshments typically on offer at this kind of evening event.

Getting there

The Beach Hotel sits on the seafront in Mullaghmore, on the coast road north of Cliffoney. The village has its own car parking near the harbour and seafront.

The exhibition is a good excuse to spend an evening in Mullaghmore, known for its harbour, beach and the coastal views out toward Classiebawn Castle. There is more of the coastline to explore across Co. Sligo.
