At Hooked Sligo (tour meeting point) · 3-4 Rockwood Parade, Sligo, Co. Sligo
Taste of Sligo runs a 2.5-hour guided walking food tour of Sligo town, led by local restaurateur Anthony Gray, of Eala Bhán and Hooked. It is a bookable, year-round experience rather than a one-off event, run for small groups on dates set through the booking calendar rather than a fixed weekly slot.
Groups of 6 to 10 guests meet their guide and walk between up to six artisan food and drink stops around Sligo town, tasting as they go rather than sitting down to one long meal. The route has taken in Eala Bhán for fine dining bites, Hooked for riverside casual food, the Sligo Oyster Experience for fresh Sligo Bay oysters, Le Fournil for patisserie, The Wine Buff for wine, and Hargadon’s, one of Sligo’s oldest pubs, for a taste of the town’s drinking history. Food and drink at each stop are included in the tour price, along with commentary on the buildings and history passed along the way. Tours run in English with a professional guide and are not suitable as a substitute meal for anyone with a very large appetite, given the tasting format.
Tours meet at Hooked, 3-4 Rockwood Parade, on the riverside in Sligo town centre, with guests asked to arrive around 10 minutes early. The walking route stays within the town centre, so no transport is needed once you arrive.
The tour is a good way to get an overview of Sligo’s food scene in one sitting, and pairs well with a longer visit to the shops and riverside walks around the Garavogue. There is more to see in Sligo and across Co. Sligo.
