Carlow Ladies Football arrive at the 2026 TG4 All-Ireland Junior Championship semi-finals as Leinster champions, having come from behind to beat Longford in the provincial final at St Conleth’s Park in Newbridge. The All-Ireland semi-finals on Sunday 12 July are the biggest occasion the county’s junior ladies team has faced this season, with a place in the All-Ireland final at Croke Park on 2 August the prize for the winners. If you follow the Barrowsiders or simply enjoy a county game played with real intensity, this is a day worth putting in the diary.
Ladies football at the junior inter-county level is fast, competitive and genuinely absorbing - smaller squads mean players cover every blade of pitch and the margins are tight. Carlow’s campaign has been impressive: they finished their group with a 100% record against London, Sligo and Limerick, including a 5-18 to 1-7 win over London. Sara Doyle was a standout in the Leinster final, scoring 1-5 including a 1-3 burst in the opening five minutes of the second half that turned the game around.
The four semi-finalists come from two groups, with the top team from each group meeting the runner-up from the other, so Carlow’s strong group record should set them up with a favourable draw. The LGFA confirms the semi-final date as Sunday 12 July, with the venue to be confirmed closer to the day - check ladiesgaelic.ie for the confirmed location and throw-in time.

If the semi-final is held at a local ground in Carlow, parking is generally available at GAA venues in the county. If the fixture is assigned to a neutral venue, the LGFA fixture notice will include travel details.
Carlow town itself sits where the Rivers Barrow and Burren meet, and there is plenty to see on a summer Sunday - Carlow Castle, the Cathedral of the Assumption and the wide towpath walks along the Barrow. There is more to see in Carlow and across Co. Carlow.
