TG4 All-Ireland Senior Ladies Football Championship Quarter-Final

At Croke Park · Croke Park, Dublin

TG4 All-Ireland ladies football quarter-final

The TG4 All-Ireland Senior Ladies Football Championship reaches the quarter-final stage on the weekend of July 4-5, 2026, with eight of the country’s best county teams going head to head for semi-final places. For Tipperary supporters, this weekend carries a particular edge: having competed in Group 2 against Kerry and Kildare through June, the Premier County’s senior ladies did not advance to the last eight this year, leaving their fans to watch the action from the stands or the sofa. That is no reason to miss a weekend of exceptional football - and the championship at this stage rarely disappoints.

What to expect

The quarter-final draw produced four ties across two days, with home advantage going to the group winners: Dublin host Cork, Galway take on Mayo, Kerry face Meath, and Armagh meet Kildare. All four games will be broadcast live on TG4, which has held the sponsorship and broadcast rights to the championship since 2016 and covers every game from this stage onwards with a full production team.

Quarter-final weekends in ladies football are known for tight, high-tempo games where the margin between the teams is often small. At this level, teams have been preparing since January and tactical variety is genuine - kick-passing, running offences, blanket defences, and set-piece play from frees and kickouts all feature. If you are new to ladies Gaelic football, it plays by largely the same rules as the men’s game: 15 players a side, goals and points, 60 minutes. The pace and skill on show at All-Ireland level tend to convert first-time viewers quickly.

Getting there

Tipperary town sits roughly in the middle of the county, well connected by road and rail. The M8 motorway runs north-south through the county, linking Tipperary to Dublin (about two hours), Cork (under an hour), and Limerick (about 40 minutes). The N24 crosses east-west and connects the town to Waterford and Limerick directly.

Irish Rail serves Tipperary station on the Limerick Junction to Waterford line, with connections at Limerick Junction for Dublin Heuston services. Bus Eireann links the town to Clonmel, Limerick, and Thurles. If travelling to attend any of the quarter-finals in person, the home venues (Dublin, Galway, Kerry, and Armagh) are all reachable from Tipperary by road in under three hours at most.

While you’re in Tipperary

The town of Tipperary itself sits at the foot of the Slievenamuck hills and makes for an easy base for exploring the Golden Vale. There is more to see in Tipperary and across Co. Tipperary.
