TG4 All-Ireland ladies football semi-final

The TG4 All-Ireland Senior Ladies Football Championship reaches its penultimate stage on Saturday 18 July 2026, with two semi-finals deciding who advances to the All-Ireland Final. This is the sharpest edge of the women’s inter-county season - four of the eight quarter-final survivors going head to head, with everything on the line. Whether you follow one county obsessively or simply love a day of high-quality Gaelic football, the semi-finals are among the most watchable fixtures of the whole GAA calendar.

What to expect

Both games go ahead on the same day, live on TG4, with throw-in times of 3:15pm and 5:15pm. The semi-final pairings were decided by the quarter-final results, with the winners of Dublin/Cork facing the winners of Kerry/Meath, and the winners of Galway/Mayo taking on the winners of Armagh/Kildare.

Ladies football at this level is fast, physical, and technically strong. The game has grown enormously in terms of skill and intensity over the past decade, and the championship semi-finals consistently produce close, tight contests. Crowds at LGFA knockout games have grown year on year - the 2025 semi-finals at Glenisk O’Connor Park in Tullamore drew large, vocal support across both fixtures, and 2026 is expected to follow suit.

The venue for the 2026 semi-finals had not been announced at time of writing - check the LGFA website at lgfa.ie for confirmation closer to the date. Previous semi-finals have been held at provincial grounds around the country before the finals come to Croke Park.

Getting there

The venue is yet to be confirmed, so check lgfa.ie for the final location. If the games are in Connacht or Munster, Tipperary town is a useful base - it sits on the main Dublin to Cork rail line, with regular Iarnrod Eireann services making it straightforward to reach from most of the country. Tipperary town is also well served by road, with the M8 motorway running close by. Parking at GAA venues is generally available on-site or nearby, but for double-headers it fills fast - arrive at least an hour before throw-in.

While you’re in Tipperary

If you are travelling through or based in the county for the day, the Rock of Cashel is just a short drive from Tipperary town and is one of the most striking historical sites in the country. The town itself has a compact centre with good cafes and pubs well used to match-day crowds. There is more to see in Tipperary and across Co. Tipperary.
