At The Bunker Bar · Gorey, Co. Wexford
The Bunker Bash is a fully outdoor country and Irish music festival that takes root at The Bunker Bar on the edge of Gorey across two summer evenings. This is not a massive anonymous festival - it is a community event built around a pub that has established itself as a proper live music venue since coming under new ownership. The inaugural Bunker Bash ran in 2025 as a single-day gathering and sold out its early bird tickets fast; the 2026 edition has been expanded to two days on the strength of that reception. If you enjoy a genuine Irish night out with a strong line-up and no pretensions, this is the kind of event worth planning a trip for.
Both days are ticketed separately, with gates opening at 5 PM on the Friday and 1 PM on the Saturday, running through to midnight each night. The stage production includes full lighting and sound - this is a proper festival setup rather than a pub car park gig.
The Friday bill opens with Chloe Fortune and Aoife Doyle, followed by Katelin Tierney and the Young Wolfe Tones before Rhythm and Sticks close out the night. Saturday carries the heavier programme: Mad for Ceol start things off in the afternoon, The Wrafters and Clada follow, Derek Ryan takes the main evening slot from 7 to 9 PM, and the Danny Byrne Band finish the weekend. The mix covers traditional Irish, country, and contemporary Irish country across both nights.
The venue is at Knockavota, The Rock - a short drive outside the town centre. Free parking is on site. The event is for over-18s only. Ticket prices at time of writing are €30 for Friday and €45 for Saturday, with a two-day early bird pass available at €50 while stock lasts. No refunds are offered so check the dates work for you before buying.
Gorey sits at the northern end of Co. Wexford on the N11/M11 corridor, roughly an hour south of Dublin and 30 minutes north of Wexford town. By road from Dublin, take the M11 south and exit at Gorey. From the west, the N80 runs through Enniscorthy to connect. By rail, Gorey has a regular Irish Rail service on the Dublin Rosslare Europort line - trains run from Connolly Station in Dublin, and the journey takes around 75 minutes. The venue itself is a few kilometres outside the town centre, so a taxi or car is the practical option from the station. Free parking is available at The Bunker Bar for those driving.
Gorey is a handsome market town with a strong independent food scene and good access to the north Wexford coast at Courtown and Ballymoney. Coming for the weekend opens up a stretch of coastline, walks, and good places to eat that make the trip worth extending. There is more to see in Gorey and across Co. Wexford.
