The Menace Quiz with Darragh Ennis

At Moat Theatre · Abbey Road, Naas, Co. Kildare

The Menace Quiz with Darragh Ennis

If you know Darragh Ennis from his years as The Menace on ITV’s The Chase, you’ll know he’s not just a formidable quizmaster - he brings genuine wit and warmth to everything he does. His live Menace Quiz tour turns the tables on the TV format: you’re not just answering questions, you’re competing to go head-to-head against Darragh himself. It’s an ideal night out for groups of friends, quiz regulars, and anyone who’s ever shouted an answer at the telly and been right.

What to expect

The format is fast-paced pub quiz with a theatrical edge. Teams work through multiple rounds covering general knowledge, pop culture, history, and more, all hosted by Darragh with plenty of banter and surprises along the way. The show runs on the Redtooth Smart Quiz app, so it’s worth downloading it on your phone before you arrive. The winning team earns the chance to go head-to-head with Darragh in a final challenge - which is either the highlight or the most nerve-wracking part of the evening, depending on your trivia confidence. Doors and bar are open before the 8pm start, so arriving a little early gives you time to settle your team and get your round in. The show runs until around 10:30pm.

The venue itself adds to the occasion. The Moat Theatre is a proper 200-seat performance space with a foyer café and bar, originally built as a post-penal church and reopened as a theatre in 2003. It’s compact enough to feel like you’re close to the action wherever you sit.

Getting there

Naas is the county town of Kildare and sits on the N7, about 30km south-west of Dublin city centre - roughly 35 minutes by car outside rush hour. Bus Éireann and Dublin Coach run regular services from Dublin, and the journey is under an hour. There is no train station in Naas itself. Parking is available in Naas town centre, with pay-and-display spaces and a multi-storey on Friary Road, both within a short walk of Abbey Road.

While you’re in Naas

Naas has a good range of pubs and restaurants in the town centre if you want to eat before the show, and the atmosphere on a mid-week September evening is relaxed. There is more to see in Naas and across Co. Kildare.
