Tinahely Agricultural Show 2026

At Fairwood Park · Fairwood Park, Tinahely, Co. Wicklow

Agricultural show with livestock and countryside attractions

The Tinahely Agricultural Show has been drawing crowds to south Wicklow on August Bank Holiday Monday since 1935. Free to attend and held at Fairwood Park - a 71-acre showground owned by the show society and the Shillelagh District Hunt committee - this is one of the largest and longest-running agricultural shows in Leinster. With over 20,000 visitors on the day, it suits families, farming folk, food lovers, and anyone who wants to spend a bank holiday in proper Wicklow countryside rather than a car park.

What to expect

The showground fills up with livestock rings, trade stands, and demonstration areas running from morning until early evening. Cattle, sheep, goats, and horses compete across bloodstock and breed classes, with show jumping drawing some of the biggest entries on the day. The equestrian arena is a focal point for much of the afternoon.

Beyond the livestock, the Best of Wicklow exhibition showcases local produce and crafts, and the IFA Food Village is a good place to stop for something proper to eat. There are also craft stalls, a quilt display, home industries, a dog show, a baby show, vintage machinery exhibits, and pony games. Live country music plays through the day. Kids get their own funfair area and a pets corner, which tends to be a reliable crowd-pleaser with younger visitors.

There are well over 400 trade exhibitors on site, so plan for a full day if you want to take it all in properly. The show typically runs from around 8:30am to 6:00pm.

Getting there

Tinahely sits in the Derry River valley in the south-western corner of Wicklow, roughly 15km from Shillelagh and about 90km from Dublin via the N11/M11 and the R747 through Aughrim. The most straightforward approach from Dublin is to take the M11 south, exit at Arklow, then follow signs for Tinahely inland. From Carlow or Kilkenny, the R725 or R702 bring you in from the west.

Public transport to Tinahely is limited; driving or getting a lift is the realistic option for most visitors. Parking is available at the showground and in the surrounding area, though arriving early on a bank holiday Monday makes finding a spot considerably easier.

While you’re in Tinahely

The town itself is a quiet, pleasant stop with a handful of pubs and a good-looking square. The wider south Wicklow countryside - Shillelagh woodland, the Derry River, and the rolling farmland that surrounds the show venue - rewards anyone who arrives early or stays on into the evening. There is more to see in Tinahely and across Co. Wicklow.
