Tóstal Bhreac-Cluana 2026

At Ballyhaunis Community Hall · Ballyhaunis, Co. Mayo

Bus tour and community gathering for Tostal Bhreac-Cluana

Tóstal Bhreac-Cluana is a three-day heritage gathering for people with roots in the Brackloon area near Ballyhaunis, run under Mayo County Council’s Clans of Mayo programme, which reconnects the Mayo diaspora with the parishes their families came from. The 2026 gathering runs 20-22 August and is built around a single guided day out plus a community celebration to close.

What to Expect

The centrepiece is a full-day coach tour of County Mayo on Thursday 20 August, departing Ballyhaunis at 9am and returning around 9pm, giving visiting relatives and returning emigrants a guided run through the county’s landscape and heritage sites in a single day. The gathering closes on Saturday 22 August with an evening event in Ballyhaunis Community Hall from 8pm, billed simply as music, chat and “cupan tae” - a relaxed, unticketed social gathering rather than a formal programme. The event is aimed at people with ancestral or current connections to Brackloon and the surrounding townlands, and organisers coordinate attendance through the Brackloon Reunion Facebook group in the weeks beforehand.

Getting There

Ballyhaunis is on the N83, in east Mayo close to the Roscommon border, with its own railway station on the Dublin Heuston to Westport/Ballina line. Bus Éireann services also run through the town. The bus tour departs from and returns to Ballyhaunis itself, and the Saturday gathering is in the town’s Community Hall, with parking available in the town centre.

While You’re in Ballyhaunis

Ballyhaunis is a compact east Mayo market town on the Dublin-Mayo railway line, with a mixed community reflecting its long-established textile and food-processing industries. There is more to see in Ballyhaunis and across Co. Mayo.
