Wallis Bird at Briery Gap Theatre Macroom Cork September 2026

Wexford-born singer-songwriter Wallis Bird brings her ‘I Can See Your Tour From Here’ Irish tour to Macroom on Saturday 5 September 2026, playing the newly reopened Briery Gap Theatre. It is a rare opportunity to catch one of Ireland’s most powerful live performers in an intimate 217-seat auditorium - the kind of room where you can hear every breath and feel the full force of a voice that has been selling out European venues for over a decade. The show draws on her upcoming album of the same name, which Bird produced herself for the first time at her farmhouse studio outside Berlin. If you have not seen her live before, this is the kind of gig you will talk about for a while.

What to expect

Wallis Bird is not a background-music act. Her shows are physical, loud in the best sense, and emotionally direct - folk and rock instincts pulling against each other in a way that is hard to pin down and easy to enjoy. Expect songs from the new album alongside material from her back catalogue, delivered with the kind of energy that makes a small theatre feel like an arena. The Macroom date sits in the middle of a nine-date Irish run that takes in Dundalk, Dublin, Clonakilty, Limerick, Galway and Kilkenny, so the band will be well into their stride by the time they reach West Cork.

The Briery Gap itself is worth noting. The original building opened as a cinema in 1953 and had a long life as the cultural heartbeat of Macroom before a fire gutted it in 2016. Cork County Council rebuilt it from the ground up, and the new venue reopened in September 2024 with a state-of-the-art 217-seat auditorium, a bar, and a library. It is a proper room - not a pub stage - and acoustically suited to an artist like Wallis Bird.

Getting there

Macroom sits on the N22, approximately 40km west of Cork city - roughly a 35-minute drive in clear traffic. There is free parking in the town. Bus Eireann serves the Cork to Killarney route along the N22 and stops in Macroom, making the journey possible without a car, though check evening return times before you go. The theatre is on Main Street, easy walking distance from any car park in the town.

While you’re in Macroom

Macroom is the gateway town for the Lee Valley and West Cork beyond, and September is one of the better months to be there - the summer crowds have thinned and the evenings are still long enough to walk the castle grounds before the show. There is more to see in Macroom and across Co. Cork.
