At Bray Promenade · Bray Promenade, Bray, Co. Wicklow
The third and final round of the Wicklow Triathlon Club Aquathon Series takes place at Bray Promenade on Wednesday, 5 August 2026, following earlier rounds on 10 June and 8 July. Each aquathon pairs a 750m sea swim with a 5K run, a shorter and more approachable format than a full triathlon, and registration for round three is at The Martello Hotel on Bray Promenade from 6:00pm, with transition set up across the road by the bandstand.
The format is straightforward, a sea swim off Bray’s promenade followed directly by a run along the seafront, timed with results published afterward, and it draws a mix of club triathletes using it as summer speed work and newer entrants trying an aquathon for the first time. A valid Triathlon Ireland race licence is needed to take part, and entrants can sign up for this round alone or, across the series, for all three races at a combined rate. Relay teams are also catered for, splitting the swim and run between two people, a good way for a nervous open water swimmer to take part without committing to the sea leg. Bray’s promenade setting means a ready made supporter crowd of walkers and passers by, and the Martello Hotel serves as the hub for registration, numbers and bag storage.
Bray Promenade is a short walk from Bray’s DART and mainline railway station, making the event easy to reach without a car from Dublin. The N11 also runs into Bray for anyone driving.
Bray promenade is the venue itself, so the seafront’s cafes and chippers are on hand immediately after the race for a well earned meal. There is more to explore across Co. Wicklow.
