At Wicklow Way Wines · Unit 8, Newtown Business and Enterprise Centre, Newtownmountkennedy, Co. Wicklow, A63 DT61
Wicklow Way Wines opens its Newtownmountkennedy winery for tours and tastings every Saturday and Sunday afternoon. It is a recurring weekend fixture rather than a one-off, run by the winemaker who founded the operation, and it has picked up three TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice awards along the way. Weekday visits can also be arranged by request outside the regular weekend window.
The visit is built around Wicklow Way’s three Irish berry wines, made from strawberries, blackberries and raspberries grown and pressed on site. The winemaker walks the group through the winery to explain how each wine is produced, from fruit to bottle, before moving upstairs for a guided tasting. Each of the three wines is paired with artisan Irish cheese and chocolate chosen to complement its flavour, and the whole experience is hosted directly by the person who makes the wine rather than a tour operator. Reviewers consistently highlight the personal, hands-on nature of the tour and the quality of the pairings that come with it.
Wicklow Way Wines is based at the Newtown Business and Enterprise Centre in Newtownmountkennedy, just off the N11 and about 40 minutes from Dublin city centre. The winery is close to Wicklow Wolf Brewery and Druids Glen, making it easy to combine with another stop in the area.
