Artisan Food and Craft Market - Portadown Magowan West

At Magowan West Car Park · Magowan West, Portadown, Co. Armagh, BT62

Artisan food and craft stalls at an outdoor market in Portadown town centre

Portadown’s town centre gets a proper market day on Saturday 29 August 2026, when the ABC Borough Council’s touring Artisan Food and Craft Market sets up in Magowan West Car Park from 10am to 3pm. Entry is free, the stalls are all local, and the format suits anyone who wants to browse handcrafted goods and good food without a price tag on the door. It’s a good outing for families, a relaxed Saturday morning for anyone passing through, and a genuine showcase for small producers across the Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon area.

What to expect

The ABC Borough Council expanded its artisan market series to 14 dates across the borough for 2026 - double the previous programme - visiting each of its main urban centres twice. Portadown gets two stops; this August date at Magowan West is the second, following an earlier market at Portadown Pleasure Gardens in June.

Stalls typically carry a mix of gourmet food, artisan bakes, handcrafted goods, and unique local makes. Past markets across the borough have drawn strong crowds and sellers have reported selling out by early afternoon - so arriving on time is worthwhile if there’s a particular producer you want to catch. The council has linked some market dates to wider town events, so there may be added footfall and atmosphere on the day.

The car park sits at the bottom of Magowan West, adjacent to the High Street Mall. A section of parking bays is closed off for the stalls, giving the market a proper town-centre feel rather than a tucked-away spot.

Getting there

Magowan West Car Park is right in Portadown town centre, a short walk from Portadown railway station on Woodhouse Street. Translink operates regular trains on the Belfast - Newry line stopping at Portadown, and bus services also connect the town to Lurgan, Armagh and surrounding areas. If you’re driving, the wider Magowan West complex has around 400 spaces and is well signposted from the main approach roads; note that some bays in the lower section will be suspended on market day.

While you’re in Portadown

Portadown sits on the River Bann and has a lively town centre worth a wander after the market. The Pleasure Gardens park is a short walk away and a pleasant spot on a summer afternoon. There is more to see in Portadown and across Co. Armagh.
