Crannagael Supper Club - Armagh Food and Cider Weekend

At Crannagael House · Crannagael House, Portadown Road, Armagh, Co. Armagh

Elegant supper club table setting at Crannagael House Armagh during Food and Cider Weekend

The Crannagael Supper Club is one of the standout evenings of the Armagh Food and Cider Weekend, held each September in the orchards and apple country south of Armagh city. It takes place at Crannagael House, a Grade II listed Georgian house that has been in the same family since 1760 - the Nicholsons, whose ancestors are credited with planting some of the first Bramley apple trees in County Armagh. For food lovers who want more than a festival market stall, this is the evening to book: an intimate, ticketed dinner where every plate and every pour connects directly to the land outside the window.

What to expect

Chef Gareth Reid and the 4 Vicars Catering team prepare a multi-course menu built around local, seasonal produce, including ingredients grown on the Crannagael estate itself. Each course is paired with a carefully chosen MacIvors Cider, and guiding guests through the pairings on the night is Gabe Cook, a cider expert with a considerable reputation in Irish and British food circles. Greg MacNeice of MacIvors Cider has also joined previous editions to talk through the craft behind each pour. The format is relaxed and convivial - more long table dinner than stiff banquet - set inside a house that looks out over apple orchards and the Mourne Mountains in the distance. Previous editions have run from early evening through to around 10.30pm. Tickets sell out quickly; this event has filled every year it has run. The 2025 edition was priced at £75 per person; 2026 pricing will be confirmed on the Visit Armagh website.

Getting there

Armagh city is well connected by road: from Belfast take the M1 motorway and exit at junction 13, then follow the B28 towards Portadown. Crannagael House sits on the Portadown Road south of Armagh city, roughly five minutes from the city centre. A car is the most practical option. In past years the organisers have offered a free shuttle bus from Armagh and Portadown, with stops at Richhill, Loughgall and Moy - check visitarmagh.com when booking to see if the shuttle returns in 2026. Armagh city has on-street parking and a central car park off Friary Road if you are based in the city for the weekend.

While you’re in Armagh

September is a fine time to be in this part of the world: the orchard harvest is underway, the city is quiet after summer, and the cathedral quarter is worth a slow walk. There is more to see in Armagh and across Co. Armagh.
