Folk legend Ralph McTell brings his show Somewhere Down the Road to Market Place Theatre on Friday 30 October 2026, performing a set of his own classics including his best-known song, Streets of London. McTell has been a fixture of the British and Irish folk circuit for decades, and this show is a solo or small-band acoustic concert built around his own songwriting rather than a tribute or covers format.

Getting There

Market Place Theatre sits on Market Street in Armagh city centre. Armagh is roughly 40 minutes from Belfast via the A3, and around an hour from Dublin via the M1 and A28. Translink buses run from Belfast’s Europa Buscentre into Armagh bus station on Lonsdale Road, a short walk from the theatre, and pay-and-display parking is available nearby on Thomas Street and Scotch Street.

Armagh’s compact city centre makes it easy to build a full evening around a show. Two cathedrals, both named St Patrick’s, sit on facing hilltops in the city, and the Armagh Observatory and Planetarium is a short walk from Market Street. A number of pubs and restaurants around the Shambles and English Street are within easy reach for dinner beforehand.
