The Twits comes to the Market Place Theatre, Armagh, on Saturday 26 September 2026, a stage adaptation of Roald Dahl’s much-loved book about the two most disgusting, prank-obsessed characters in children’s literature. It is one of a run of children’s theatre titles the venue schedules through the autumn, and it lands on the same day as the ABBA tribute show The Bjorn Identity, giving families a matinee option before the evening’s grown-up entertainment.
Dahl’s story centres on Mr and Mrs Twit, a grotesque married couple who spend their days playing cruel, disgusting tricks on each other and on the animals unlucky enough to live nearby, including a family of caged monkeys forced to perform for the Twits’ amusement. When the Muggle-Wump monkeys and a group of birds finally turn the tables, the story becomes a satisfying tale of comeuppance, told with Dahl’s usual mix of gross-out comedy and moral sting.
