What to Expect

Birr Castle’s iconic treehouse, Ireland’s tallest, reopens for summer 2026 with brand new enhancements including a spectacular tower and thrilling tube slide. The treehouse adventure area includes a full playground with swings, slides, sand pits and climbing frames. General admission includes access to 120 acres of parkland, 10km of walking trails, the 7-gallery Science Centre with the world’s oldest intact dark room, and scenic forest bathing trails. The Great Telescope gallery celebrates astronomy and engineering with interactive exhibits.

• Open daily March 16 to October 31, 2026 (summer dates June 15-October 31)
• Hours: 9:00am to 6:00pm (last admission one hour before closing)
• Admission: €11-12.50 adults, €5-6 children (4-17), under 4 free
• Family tickets (2 adults + 2 children): €26-30
• Guided tours of castle interior available Monday-Saturday May-August
• Full year memberships available
• Ample car parking
