Summer Stars Reading Programme at Carlow Libraries

What to Expect

Summer Stars is Ireland’s free national summer reading programme for children and runs every year from mid-June to the end of August in all public libraries, including the four Carlow branches: Carlow Central Library, Tullow Library, Bagenalstown Library and Borris Library. Children register at their local library, receive a reading booklet to track their progress, and can enter weekly draws for prizes. Various events and activities are also held in each branch throughout the summer.

Good to Know

• Runs from 15 June to 31 August 2026; free for all children to join

• Register at your nearest Carlow library branch to receive your stamp card and prizes

• Carlow library branches: Carlow Central Library, Tullow, Bagenalstown, Borris

• Weekly prize draws and a mega-prize at the end of summer

Getting There

Carlow Central Library is on Tullow Street in Carlow Town. Branch libraries are in Tullow, Bagenalstown and Borris town centres.
